Planning Way Ahead for Thrifty Giving

November 7, 2017 • Momcents

I love giving little gifts to my kids’ teachers throughout the school year.  I mean, they are with my kiddos more than I am during the week and I so appreciate everything they do.  With 3 kiddos, “little” gifts can add up quick!  But they don’t have to, especially if you plan WAY ahead.  And I mean WAY ahead!  Here is a quick little gift I just put together for Halloween.

Bags- bought a few weeks after Halloween last year when they were way on clearance at Hobby Lobby.  Originally $1.99 for 10 bags.  75% off brings them to $.50 for 10 or $.05 each.  I even have leftovers for next year.

Jack-o’-Lantern mercury glass candle holder with battery operated tea light- also purchased last year a few weeks after Halloween at my grocery store in the floral section.  Originally $5.99 each.  80% off brings each to $1.20.

Candy- broke into our Halloween candy early to grab a few pieces for the teachers (and praying I can stay out of it until Halloween night!)  Target had a one day sale on their app for 50% off their large bags of Halloween candy a few weeks ago and I took advantage.  We typically get about 250 trick-or-treaters each Halloween so I stock up when I find a good deal.  Costco also has great prices for large quantities of candy.  Anyway, the candy was cheap!

So for less than $2.00 each, we are able to hopefully bring a smile to some of our favorite people.  These would be great gifts for neighbors, co-workers, friends and family alike.  Can’t wait to hunt for this year’s bargain Halloween gifts!
