Foreclosure Prevention
We’re here to help you keep your home
Falling behind on your mortgage can be stressful, but you don’t have to face it alone. If you’re in default on a real estate loan with Canopy Credit Union, our team is ready to listen, understand your situation, and explore options that may help you avoid foreclosure.
- Providing key information helps us find the best solution for you:
- Current statements for all checking and savings accounts (Canopy or other institutions)
- List of personal assets, including real estate, vehicles, and investments
- Overview of major bills
- Most recent W-2 and tax return
- Pay stubs from the past six months
- Benefit statements (Social Security, disability, unemployment, retirement, or public assistance)
- Statements for other loans, including credit cards, auto loans, student loans, and mortgages
- Ways we can help:
- Special Forbearance: Temporarily reduce or pause your payments to ease financial pressure. Afterward, you can make a lump sum payment or spread it out with a repayment plan.
- Repayment Plan: Pay your regular mortgage plus a portion of what’s past due over several months or up to a year, returning to your normal payments once completed.
- Mortgage Modification: Adjust your loan term or refinance to make payments more manageable.
- Pre-Foreclosure Sale: If keeping your home isn’t possible long-term, selling before foreclosure can help protect your credit and preserve some equity.
- Free Financial Coaching: Our personalized financial coaching is free, compassionate, and designed for your unique situation. Our certified financial coaching team can help you build a plan you can trust.
