Best snacks to keep around for kiddos

I don’t know about your kids but when my kids get hungry (and what I really mean to say is hangry) they don’t take the time to grab something healthy. To keep them from eating pure junk, I try to keep some healthier snacks in the house for them to choose from. Here are some of their favorites:

  • Salami
  • Pepperoni
  • Cheese slices/sticks
  • Crackers
  • Pirate’s Booty
  • Grapes, raspberries, oranges, apples, pineapple – whatever fruit is in season
  • Fresh veggies with ranch dip
  • Yogurt
  • Nuts – almonds, pistachios
  • Trail mix
  • Peanut butter toast
  • Celery with peanut butter
  • Turkey/ham slices
  • Hummus
  • Hard-boiled eggs
  • Popcorn

Sometimes I’ll even put together a platter of 4 or 5 of the above things. Especially if they are having friends over. I guarantee they will eat it if it is out and ready and not try to go to the pantry for a cookie! This also saves the pricier pre-packaged items for lunches and snacks on the road!
