Get Kids Involved in Holiday Giving

Written by Momcents blogger, Krista Felker

There’s no better time to give back to our community than during the holiday season. And showing kids the importance of giving, and not always receiving, is a gift in itself.

Here are some fun ways to get your family involved:

  • Team up with an organization like ACCOIN, who supports kids and families dealing with childhood cancer. We have adopted families through them and were able to buy gifts from their wishlist.
  • Know a family going through a hard time but don’t want to intrude or overwhelm them? Buy some gift cards and send them anonymously in a holiday card.
  • Have your kids and their friends make some simple homemade gifts and deliver them to a nursing or retirement home. Or see if you can get your kids’ basketball team or Cub Scout group to go to these homes to sing Christmas carols.
  • Support local food drives, let kids buy a gift from the Tree of Sharing, give loose change to the Salvation Army bell ringers.

The options are endless. And giving back feels oh-so-good!
