The holidays are here and even through the hustle and bustle there are many ways to teach your kids about kindness through your actions. Christmas is not all about receiving, to me it is about giving. 

Giving doesn’t always mean a gift wrapped in paper, it can be an action too. 

Here are some random acts of kindness you can do with your kids this time of year (but you can also do a lot of them all year round.) 

• Put out treats for the people delivering package to your door. 
• Off to wrap gifts for a neighbor or friend that might struggle to do it on their own. 
• If able, contribute to a cause that is important to you. We like to choose some items for families at the kids’ school that need help over the holidays. 
• Go caroling with family and friends. 
• Be extra kind to everyone you cross paths with. 
• Hold the door open for someone. 
• Buy a hot chocolate for a bell ringer outside of the grocery store. 
• Tip more than usual, that extra money might help them in ways you don’t know about. 
• Bring flowers to a nursing home. 
• Bring cards to teachers even if you cannot afford a gift. 
• Compliment somebody. 
• Thank someone in your life that does a lot for you. 
• And last but certainly not least- SMILE! Smile at friends, smile at strangers.  That person may be going through a hard time and that smile may make their day brighter! So simple yet so impactful.
